Atlas Obscura: Branded content

Although my wife is a talented photojournalist and I’m a writer, we haven’t worked together on projects very often. We got the chance when Atlas Obscura called with a couple of really fun branded-content projects: a road trip to Joshua Tree from Los Angeles, and a running tour of Venice, California. These pieces turned out great, were well received by the brands and Atlas Obscura, and were generally a blast to do.

For a story presented by Nissan, Sally and I visited “the strange and novel” destinations on the way from Los Angeles to Joshua Tree National Park. Everyone knows the desert is a haven for weirdos, and we found lots of fun stuff.

For a story presented by Cole Haan, Sally and I followed a six-mile running route that visited some of Venice, California’s notable oddities (and Venice is a place with a lot of oddities).
